Discovery of the finding:
Between 30, August and 9, November 1966, Péter Németh and András Gombás excavated eighteen burials that was levelled when the Alkaloida Plant of Tiszavasvári was enlarged. At the intervals in the rescue excavations, machines destroyed a large number of graves. The set of tarsoly mounts came to light incompletely.

Preparation method:

Detail of the tarsoly mounts of Tiszavasvar
Ancient Hungarians, Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum 1996

Artwork:
The cast bronze mount in the shape of an animal head (perhaps a fox-head), with two rivets on the reverse, adorned the closing strap. Two lozenge-shaped mounts cast in bronze, decorated with four leaf motifs must have been adorned the lid.

A tarsoly zárószíjának felsõ részén lehetett a bronzból öntött állatfejet mintázó veret, hátoldalán két nittszeggel. A fedõlapot díszíthette a két öntött bronz, négy levélmintát formázó rombusz alakú veret. A veretek legközelebbi párhuzamát Újfehértóról ismerjük, valószínû itt is hasonló módon díszíthették a tarsoly fedõlapját és a zárószíjat.

Usage:
Two additional leaf-ornamented mounts from the lid, the mounts from the lower section of the closing strap and the central strap control are missing.

Inventory number:

Vasvári Pál Múzeum, Tiszavasvári - 67.3.1-2.

Literature:
Németh 1966.
